Corsair or BuddyPad mouse pad: our honest comparison (2026)

Hesitating between a Corsair mouse pad and a BuddyPad? It’s a question we get often, and rightly so: the two brands occupy very different territories of the market. On one side, Corsair and its global gaming reputation, its splash-resistant models and its premium positioning. On the other, BuddyPad and its exclusive designs, its unbeatable value-for-money and its anchor in gaming culture.

We spent 3 months testing side by side to give you an honest take. Here’s our complete verdict.

Why compare Corsair and BuddyPad?

Two very different gaming pad philosophies

Corsair Black MM200 Mouse Pad - Cloth Gaming Precision Surface BuddyPad

Corsair is an American brand founded in 1994, specialized in high-end gaming hardware. Its mouse pads are designed first for performance: splash-resistant treatment, fabrics optimized for modern optical sensors, careful finishes. They have premium positioning that translates into the price.

BuddyPad is a brand born from an obsession: offering gaming pads with real artistic designs (manga, fantasy, minimalist) without sacrificing surface quality. The result: pads that perform as well as the major brands at a price often 30-40% lower.

The Corsair lineup under the microscope

Corsair MM350 Pro: the safe spill-proof bet

The Corsair MM350 Pro is the brand’s bestseller. Its main strength: a splash-resistant treatment integrated into the cloth that really protects from drink spills, a true plus for long sessions. Available in XL and 3XL (930x400 mm / 37x16 in), with 4 mm thickness for optimal comfort. Price: around $40 depending on size.

Corsair MM700 RGB: the premium with lighting

The Corsair MM700 RGB steps up with LED lighting around the perimeter, compatible with iCUE (Corsair’s customization software). The micro-cloth surface is excellent for high-precision tracking. The price climbs to $60-80 depending on formats, which widens the gap with BuddyPad even more.

Corsair MM200 Pro: the mid-range option

Thicker (6 mm), the MM200 Pro bets on comfort and control with its extra-dense surface. It’s a good choice for MOBA or RTS players who prioritize accuracy over speed. Price: between $35 and $45.

Surface and accuracy: who wins?

Corsair: premium cloth optimized for performance

Corsair cloth is woven to minimize the resistance between the surface and your mouse skates. Tracking is precise and consistent, even after several weeks of intensive use. That’s particularly true on the MM700 whose micro-cloth is optimized for modern high-resolution sensors (16,000 DPI and beyond).

BuddyPad: high-density surface, balance of speed and control

The BuddyPad high-density cloth offers a good balance between speed and control - what’s called a “versatile” surface. For 95% of gamers (casual to semi-competitive), the difference with Corsair is imperceptible. For the 5% playing in high-elo ranked or in tournaments, Corsair can offer a slight tracking advantage at very high sensitivity.

Durability: stitched edges vs splash-resistant treatment

Both brands offer reinforced stitched edges, an important parity point. Where they diverge is on humidity resistance: Corsair’s MM350 Pro integrates a splash-resistant treatment directly into the cloth, which is a real practical advantage if you regularly eat or drink at your desk.

BuddyPad offers a hand-washable surface, which solves the problem differently: you clean afterwards rather than prevent. If maintenance interests you, check our complete cloth mouse pad washing guide. Both approaches are valid, depends on your habits.

Design and customization: BuddyPad’s advantage

This is where BuddyPad wins the game without contest. Corsair offers its pads in solid black with or without RGB trim. BuddyPad offers more than 20 exclusive designs: manga and anime universes (Karasu Katana, Bushido Mist, Geisha and cherry blossoms), fantasy (Eclat des ténèbres, End of the Quest), minimalist (Mountain, Myosotis), and even Girl Boss designs.

If your setup deserves more than a black rectangle, the question doesn’t even come up.

Price: what’s each dollar really worth?

BuddyPad starts at $22 for the M format and goes up to $35 for the XXL. Corsair starts at about $40 for the MM350 Pro L and climbs to $80 and more for the MM700 RGB Extended. For comparable surface performance on 95% of uses, you pay between 1.2x and 2.4x the BuddyPad price at Corsair, mainly for water resistance (MM350) or RGB (MM700).

FAQ - Corsair vs BuddyPad

Is the Corsair MM350 mouse pad really worth more than BuddyPad?+

Can you wash a Corsair pad like a BuddyPad?+

The MM350 tolerates surface wet cleaning thanks to its splash-resistant treatment. The BuddyPad is hand-washable in lukewarm water with mild soap. For complete machine washing, neither is recommended by the manufacturer.

Corsair or BuddyPad for competitive FPS gaming?+

For pure competitive FPS (CS2, Valorant, Apex), the Corsair micro-textured cloth offers slightly more precise control at very high DPI. This difference is perceptible only at semi-pro level and beyond. For casual to semi-competitive gaming, BuddyPad offers the same feel at lower cost.

Does BuddyPad offer 3XL pads like Corsair?+

BuddyPad currently goes up to XXL (90x40 cm / 35x16 in). The 3XL format (930x400 mm / 37x16 in) of the Corsair MM350 is slightly larger. If you need the extreme XXL deskmat format, Corsair has that advantage, although the difference is minimal in daily use.
